From Millet's "The Angelus" capturing a moment of serene piety in the 19th century, to Michelangelo's "Pieta" evoking a deep religious context, and the profoundly moving works of Mark Rothko—often celebrated as one of the most wept-over artists—emotional responses to art are as timeless as they are varied.
